Background |
Growing up on the El-Aurian homeworld, Tyzur developed an interest in science. His curiosity was fostered from an early age. His childhood was cut short in the Borg invasion of 2265, during which he was assimilated. The collective took advantage of the El-Aurians' transtemporal awareness in order to guide incursions into their enemies' past and into alternate timelines. Tyzur took on the role of a field medic drone during such operations. In 2378, the Sphere he served on was dispatched to intercept the USS Voyager since signs of a temporal incursion were detected. Among other drones, Tyzur was captured by the Voyager crew. Upon returning to the Alpha Quadrant, he was liberated by the ship's EMH and Seven of Nine.They were unable to remove his cybernetic arm that serves as a medical toolkit, his assimilation tubules, and his interlink node. Tyzur took part in a recovery therapy programme on Risa, where he learned to play the Risian lute. His interactions with the Voyager crew inspired him to join Starfleet as a physician, motivated by a desire to alleviate suffering like he has endured for a century. During his medical training at Starfleet Academy, Tyzur developed an interest in Cybernetics and Xenobiology. While he majored in medicine, he took on Engineering and Science as minors. He was a social outcast during this time due to his apparent history with the Borg, and many Federation citizens having lost family to Borg incursions in the last few decades. After graduating, Tyzur was posted on Starbase 327 as a resident doctor, specialising in trauma surgery. His mentor was another El-Aurian doctor, who helped him get in touch with his El-Aurian side again. After 5 years and a promotion to Lieutenant, Tyzur requested a transfer to an exploration mission. He has encountered many species during his time in the collective, and was driven to seek out new biologies to study.
